 General Information

Both "Villa" and "Fattoria" accommodation (our Tuscany farmhouse) are part of Catignano Residence, situated about 8 km. far from Siena – the city of art which is so important to the culture and history of Tuscany.
It is also only 3 km. far from road # 408, which leads from Siena to Florence, passing first through Gaiole in Chianti, Radda in Chianti and Greve in Chianti, 3 small, wonderful typical town.
Neither is it far from other equally charming places, such as Montalcino, Pienza and Montepulciano (southbound) and San Gimignano, Volterra, and Massa Marittima (west side); all of them are located no more than 50 km. away. It is equally easy, taking the motorway between Siena and Grosseto and passing through parts of Maremma, to arrive at the most pleasant beaches of the Tirreno Sea (for example Punta Ala, Castiglione della Pescaia and Talamone, all of which are less than 100 km. away).
In the sienese Chianti where you will find our Residence, the landscape is characterised by the presence of many farmhouses and villas in which the sienese aristocracy traditionally spent their time (between the Palio on the 2nd of July and that on the 16th of August) on their own villa holidays – vacanze in Villa – often inviting artists and lovers of the arts. Our "italian garden" bears testimony to all this.

In detail, the Villa and Fattoria are two buildings intimately linked and form part of one single residential, country residence. In the past, the Villa was exclusively used by the Sergardi family as their home, and the Fattoria was a real farmhouse for agricultural activity, mostly used for the production of Classic Chianti wine and olive oil.
Now, both the Fattoria and the Villa offer some of the finest, charming accommodation in Tuscany, whose difference is made up only by the kind of vacation apartments; those belonging to a cosy, typical Tuscany's country apartment-style are located in the Fattoria, on top of which are four indipendent little houses with their own garden.
The seven holiday apartments, found on the 1st floor of the Villa, are greater in size, and decorated with marvelous paintings and frescos.
The building, settled in the luscious green tuscan countryside, is framed by the Giardino all'Italiana (italian garden), and the so called Bosco Inglese (english wood).
Also, between the olive groves, you will find the Viale dei Cipressi (Cypress lane), which leads to the swimming pool, from where you can enjoy a beautiful view of Siena and its surroundings in the distance.

The old "Tinaia", completely restored with cap vaults and terracotta' floors , can hold up to a hundred and twenty people for weddings, meetings and dinner parties with catering service.
From the Tinaia it is possible to reach a large terrace and guests can also make use of a wide external area including a beautiful and charming Italian garden.
For wedding dinners and parties, we will also be happy to suggest possible catering solutions to anyone interested.
